Coronavirus Update

The U.S. biopharmaceutical industry is working closely with U.S. government agencies, the World Health Organization and governments around the world to identify their most pressing needs in the areas of vaccination, diagnostics, and antivirals and other treatments, and to facilitate collaborations with industry.

In light of the challenges posed by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our members and attendees, the Bioscience Association of West Virginia has decided to postpone the 10th Annual West Virginia Bioscience Summit, originally scheduled for April 22, 2020 in Huntington, West Virginia.

We are working to identify a date in early fall to reschedule the event and will announce the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

With the goal of highlighting the entrepreneurs, researchers, companies and new policies that are making a positive difference in West Virginia’s life science community, the West Virginia Bioscience Association will host the 10th Annual West Virginia Bioscience Summit on Wednesday, April 22nd

The event will take place at the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall on the campus of Marshall University in Huntington.

State and regional leaders - from the life sciences, academia and government - will inform, educate and inspire attendees on a variety of topics, such as the incredible innovation coming out of state biotech companies, university research activities, funding opportunities and much more. 

Marshall University President Jerome Gilbert will offer remarks, as will Ed Gaunch, Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Commerce.  West Virginia’s new SBIR/STTR State Matching Grant Program, and the opportunity it offers research-focused organizations, will be showcased. Stay tuned for additional and prominent keynote presenters to be announced soon!
